We are excited to welcome Ryn Delgado as our sixth Leadership Intern of 2025!

Delgado grew up in El Rancho and Los Alamos, NM, before receiving a Davis Scholarship to attend Mahindra United World College India. While in high school, she was selected as a National Hispanic Scholar. She earned her BA in Ethics and Politics from Bard College Berlin and is currently pursuing her MA in the Global Studies Program at Humboldt University in Berlin. During her time in the first co-ed class of Deep Springs College, Ryn was elected the first female student body president. She worked as a Community Health Intern with Esperanza Health Centers in Chicago during COVID, where she helped develop an organizational diversity, equity, and inclusion policy and reviewed the sliding-scale payment policy to promote patient access.

We are excited to welcome Cole Washburn as our fifth Leadership Intern of 2025!

Cole grew up in Albuquerque where he attended Albuquerque Institute of Mathematics and Science. He went on to attend the University of Chicago where he graduated with a BA in English. At UChicago, Cole was involved with the founding of the school’s Indigenous Students Association and he served as Judge of the world-acclaimed University of Chicago Scavenger Hunt. Cole previously interned at the Chicago Mayor’s Office and at the D.C. Office of U.S. Representative Sharice Davids, and these experiences led to him pursuing a career in government work. After graduating, Cole returned to New Mexico to actualize that goal. Cole intends to attend law school and is currently pursuing independent legal research dealing with the intersection of Tribal Jurisdictional law and recent abortion legislation. After earning his JD, Cole plans to practice law in New Mexico.

If Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham convenes a special session to address the federal cuts to Medicaid and food assistance, we hope that she will also include the interstate compacts for healthcare workers. Joining these compacts is the most powerful step state lawmakers can take to immediately expand the supply of healthcare providers available to New Mexicans. ... See MoreSee Less

Camille Kruger grew up in Santa Fe and earned her International Baccalaureate Diploma at the United World College (UWC) in Montezuma where she served as a member of the student team that facilitates the school’s restorative justice program. Camille is currently a Davis New Mexico Scholar at the University of Chicago, where she is completing her Bachelor of Public Policy. At college, she works as a research assistant for a professor investigating the relationship between aging housing stock, environmental justice, and health equity. Camille also volunteers as a mentor, helping other first-generation students apply to college.

Noah grew up in Las Cruces and earned his BA from New Mexico State University, where he majored in Journalism and Mass Communications and minored in Government. While at New Mexico State, Noah worked alongside the KRWG-TV News22 program as a reporter, anchor, and forecaster for three years, which earned him several accolades, including awards from the New Mexico Broadcasters Association and the Society of Professional Journalists. He also served as News Editor for The Round Up, NMSU’s only independent news source. Prior to joining Think New Mexico, Noah worked as a congressional intern for Senator Martin Heinrich, a reporter/editorial intern at FOX14 in El Paso, Texas, and as a Digital Commercial Operations Intern at NBC Sports for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
Our third stellar Leadership Intern of the summer Our third stellar Leadership Intern of the summer is Ella Hutchinson! Ella grew up in Las Cruces, NM and graduated from Centennial High School where she served as a member of the Student Advisory Council to the LCPS School Board and a reporter for Centennial Student News. Ella then attended St. John’s College in Santa Fe where she earned a BA in Liberal Arts and received the Dean’s award for community service. While attending St. John’s she was the student representative of the Santa Fe campus for the College History Task Force, which was created to research St. John’s history with slavery. Ella will be taking a gap year before applying to law school, after which she plans to work on civil rights and constitutional issues in New Mexico.
We are delighted to welcome Jay Choate as another We are delighted to welcome Jay Choate as another of our summer 2025 Leadership Interns! Jay graduated from Organ Mountain High School and began their higher education studying Computer Science and Cyber Security at New Mexico Tech. Jay transferred to New Mexico State University and graduated with a BA in Political Science and a Minor in Public Administration in May 2024. At NMSU, they served as the Attorney General for the Associated Students of NMSU and as the Vice President for the Graduate Student Council. They also received the Joyce L. Smith Memorial Endowment and Jose N. & Joan T Uranga Law Endowed Scholarship. Jay is now pursuing a double major MA in Political Science and Public Administration at NMSU. Jay previously interned with the City of Las Cruces, canvassed for nonprofits including the New Mexico Dream Team, and campaigned for candidates ranging from City Council to the state legislature to Congress. They have also been involved in political party work, serving as President of NMSU College Democrats and working with people across the state to start the New Mexico Forward Party. After graduating, Jay intends to work as a policy advocate, doing research into effective solutions and advocating for them via nonprofit work and public office.

Lynsey grew up in Ojo Amarillo, NM, a small community on the Navajo Nation. She earned a BS in Population Health and Political Science from the University of New Mexico. At UNM, Lynsey developed a passion for women’s health and reproductive justice. After graduating from UNM, Lynsey worked with the New Mexico Department of Health Maternal and Child Health Epidemiology program. At NMDOH, Lynsey developed an interest in connecting community to the policymaking process. Lynsey is currently in a Master of Science in Public Health in Health Policy program at Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. After graduating from Johns Hopkins, Lynsey plans to return to New Mexico to work on Indigenous health policy.
